Dog Safely Recovered Off Ledge of Skyway Bridge by Passing Motorist

At approximately 5:14 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019, a dog was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Skyway Bridge. 

The dog, which appeared to be a dachshund, jumped onto the outer ledge of the bridge about halfway up the incline of the bridge.

Many motorists stopped in an attempt to rescue the dog from falling or getting struck by passing vehicles.

According to Sgt. Steve Gaskins from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a passing motorist stopped and retrieved the dog safely.
