Driver critically injured in overnight crash in Clearwater

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded early this morning to a serious injury single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Court Street and Missouri Avenue at 1200 Court Street.

According to investigators, a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 33-year-old Clearwater man, veered out of control, collided with a parked car at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car business, and overturned.

The driver was extracted from the vehicle, sustained critical injuries, and was transported to the trauma center at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Authorities believe speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
