Driver Dead Following Crash on US-19 Exit Ramp Early Sunday Morning
Clearwater Police officers are working a single-vehicle traffic fatality this morning.
The crash occurred at 3:02 a.m. on the exit ramp for northbound U.S. 19 at Northeast Coachman Road.
Police say that a truck veered out of control and crashed, killing the driver.
The driver who was killed has been identified as 40 year-old Michael Bellavia of Clearwater. His vehicle struck a barrier at the exit on northbound U.S. 19, causing the vehicle to flip. He was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The exit ramp was closed during the investigation.
Northbound traffic on U.S. 19 was not affected.
