The St. Petersburg Police have released additional information on the double fatality crash that occurred on July 30, 2021.
All six occupants of the 2017 Nissan Rogue that lost control and crashed off of Tyrone Blvd., killing two children, have been identified. Investigators confirm that 21 year-old Willy Lloyd was driving the SUV, with 18 year-old Maliyah Waters in the front passenger seat, and 16 year-old Mar’Rion Heatley, 21 month old Williyah Waller (DOB 11 11-2019), a toddler and 16 year-old Paul Brinkley Jr., inside.
On July 30, 2021 Lloyd was driving the SUV 76mph in a 45mph zone going northbound on Tyrone Blvd N. when he tried to pass between two vehicles and struck a grey sedan. He lost control of the Nissan Rogue and struck a tree before coming to rest in the front yard in a home near Tyrone Blvd. and Norfolk St.
No one inside the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt/properly restrained. Heatley, Waller and the toddler were ejected from the SUV. While Waters was treated and released at the scene, the toddler, Waller and Heatley were transported to the hospital.
The toddler suffered critical injuries, but Heatley and Waller were pronounced dead. Lloyd fled the scene of the crash and was located inside a vehicle near St. Pete General Hospital. He fled a second time when officers tried to stop the vehicle he was riding in.
Through investigative techniques and with the help of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Tactical Investigations Section, SPPD’s Intelligence Unit located Lloyd and took him into custody around 6:30pm last night (on August 18, 2021). SPPD charged him with:
- No Valid License Causing Serious Bodily Injury
- No Valid License Causing Serious Bodily Injury
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Serious Bodily Injury
- Child Abuse – Agg Batt Great Bodily Harm
- Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death
- Vehicular Homicide
- Vehicular Homicide
Lloyd also faces two counts of Violation of Probation and Possession of Marijuana from PCSO.
On July 30, Waters was arrested on Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child and Child Abuse – Aggravated Battery – Great Bodily Harm charges.
Lloyd and Waters are the biological parents of Williyah Waller.
