Detectives from the Pinellas Park Police Department began an investigation on April 23, 2022, following the overdose of 32-year-old Kane Mitchell and 31-year-old Luke Comiskey, both Irish nationals. Mitchell and Comiskey resided in a shared apartment at 3110 Grand Avenue in Pinellas Park, where they were both discovered deceased.
The Medical Examiner’s toxicology report confirmed that both individuals died as a result of a fentanyl overdose. Investigators determined that 33-year-old James Peoples III sold the fentanyl responsible for these deaths.
James Peoples III, listed as a transient, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in the first degree in connection with the deaths of Kane Mitchell and Luke Comiskey.
Chief Geissenberger of the Pinellas Park Police Department issued a statement emphasizing the severity of the situation, stating, “The devastating consequences of fentanyl abuse are clear in this heartbreaking incident. Our agency and city stand unwavering in its commitment to tackle the scourge of fentanyl overdoses head-on. We will pursue justice relentlessly and continue our efforts to safeguard our community from the perils of this deadly substance.”
