Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) arrested 25-year-old Matthew Morrison Rosenwald of St. Petersburg for DUI following a crash in St. Petersburg.

A multi-vehicle collision occurred Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at approximately 9:49 p.m. on southbound I-275 south of 28th Street South involving a Ford Freestyle, an unmarked Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Ford Explorer, and a Kenworth dump truck.

Rosenwald was operating a Ford Freestyle in the outside lane when it veered onto the highway shoulder and collided with an unmarked FHP Ford Explorer. The impact forced the Explorer into the travel lanes, and it was struck by a Kenworth dump truck traveling in the center lane.

Rosenwald was uninjured and later provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of 0.249, more than three times the legal limit, leading to his arrest for DUI with property damage.

The trooper, a 50-year-old male assigned to Tampa, was transported to the hospital and sustained minor injuries.
