Elderly driver killed in crash on 113th Street N in Largo

The Largo Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the intersection of 113th Street N and 126th Avenue N for a two-vehicle crash. The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023.

Investigators say that the elderly driver of a 2001 Nissan Altima was traveling westbound l on 126th Avenue N and was crossing over 113th Street N.

The driver of the Nissan did not yield to a southbound 1987 Chevy Silverado, who had the right of way.

The Chevy Silverado struck the Nissan Altima, which caused significant damage to both vehicles. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan died from his injuries at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

The southbound lanes of 113th Street was closed for several hours.

The investigation continues
