Electric scooter charger issue led to a house fire in Clearwater

Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department crews responded to a house fire shortly before 6 a.m. at 1004 Plaza Street.

The fire was contained to the garage area of the home but, there was smoke and water damage to the house.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist the two adults and one child who reside there. There were no injuries.

According to investigators, the source of the fire was traced to a charger for an electric scooter in the garage.
