Ellenton man arrested for Aggravated Manslaughter after detectives say he left a 6-year-old girl inside a hot car back in May

Detectives in the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested an Ellenton man for Aggravated Manslaughter after proving he left a 6-year-old girl inside a hot car back in May.

At approximately 5:17 pm on May 20, 2024, Markise L. Outing, 24, came to the Southern Manatee Fire Department – Station 2 (1911 30th Ave E., Bradenton) seeking medical attention for a child; paramedics observed to be unconscious, not breathing, and possibly in cardiac arrest. Life-saving measures were performed before transporting her to a local hospital for advanced care. Medical staff recorded a body core temperature of 107.2 degrees. She was pronounced dead at 8:16 that evening.

Outling, initially told deputies the child was over-heated from playing in a park. However, extensive investigation, including GPS data, found he left the girl inside a parked car at his place of business for several hours. Outling was inconsistent with his statements, and further investigation revealed he picked up the victim (his girl-friend’s daughter) from school and drove to the 4600 block of 19th Street Ct. East at around 2:45 pm, where he left the child alone inside the car with the windows rolled up while he was inside the business. It’s estimated the temperature inside the parked vehicle rose to more than 115 degrees.

An autopsy determined the child died from extreme heat. Detectives are still waiting on a toxicology report to learn more about the manner of death.

Detectives used search warrants and other evidence to build the case. On June 24th, Markise Outing was arrested for Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child and booked at the Manatee County Jail.
