Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash Under Investigation on US 19 in Tarpon Springs
TARPON SPRINGS, FL — On Sunday, May 4, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Tarpon Springs Police and Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle crash involving two pedestrians on southbound US Highway 19 near Woodhill Drive.
According to authorities, a 2020 Kia utility vehicle was traveling southbound when it struck two pedestrians who were walking westbound across US-19. One of the pedestrians, identified as 48-year-old Mandy Adams, was critically injured and transported to AdventHealth North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs, where she later died from her injuries.
The second pedestrian, 43-year-old Morgan Morris, was also struck. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Medical Center in Hudson.
A Tarpon Springs man drove the Kia utility vehicle. He and a female passenger were uninjured and remained at the scene, cooperating with the investigation.
Police stated that no criminal charges are anticipated in connection with the crash at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
