St. Petersburg Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck that occurred Wednesday morning.
At approximately 9:44 a.m., a blue Ford F-150 Raptor was traveling northbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and attempted to make a left turn onto 9th Avenue North. A yellow Suzuki dirt bike, operated by a 20-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North when it entered the marked bicycle lane to bypass other vehicles.
The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the Ford F-150. The rider was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Ford remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
