Fatal single vehicle crash investigation underway in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department continue to investigate a fatal single-vehicle traffic crash. The incident resulted in a partially submerged vehicle in Bayou Grande, a waterway near the intersection of 62nd Avenue and Bayou Grande Boulevard NE.

The incident was reported at approximately 7:24 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. When officers arrived they spotted a grey 2014 Volkswagen Passat in the water.

Investigators report the vehicle was driven by 33 year-old Tabatha Anne Hunter when it crashed through a fence just east of the intersection of 62nd Ave. and Bayou Grande Blvd. NE and had gone into the water.

Rescue personnel went into the water and recovered Hunter from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation remain ongoing.
