On April 20th, 2023, Joseph Dombrowsky, aged 49, of Pinellas Park, was taken into custody by detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with Child Neglect.
The investigation was initiated after school administrators reported to law enforcement that a 9-year-old child had handed his teacher two clear plastic baggies containing a crystal-like substance. The child told the teacher that their father had placed the baggies in his backpack. Upon testing the substance, deputies confirmed that it was methamphetamine, weighing approximately 9 grams.
According to the child, they discovered the baggies in their backpack while searching for a piece of candy. Dombrowsky, when interviewed, denied knowledge of how the baggies got into his child’s backpack. However, it was discovered that Dombrowsky had used methamphetamine and ecstasy the previous weekend and had been previously arrested for drug trafficking.
Dombrowsky was charged with Felony Child Neglect and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without any incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
