The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently investigating a crash that claimed the life of Lyle Alexander, age 47 of Holiday, Florida.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:14 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at US Hwy 19 and Denton Avenue in Pasco County.
According to troopers, Patrice Smiley, age 48 of Spring Hill, was traveling southbound in the left turn lane of US-19 approaching the intersection of Denton Avenue with a flashing yellow traffic signal. She was driving a 2013 Hyundai Tucson with two 7 year-old passengers.
Lyle Alexander was traveling northbound on US-19 approaching the intersection of Denton Avenue with a green traffic signal on a 2011 Suzuki motorcycle.
At the intersection, Smiley turned left into the path of Alexander’s motorcycle.
As a result, the front right side of Tucson collided with the front of the motorcycle.
Alexander died at the scene of the crash.
None of the occupants in the Tucson were injured.
Deputies say alcohol was not a factor in the crash and charges are pending.
