FHP Arrests Driver in Pasco Hit and Run Crash Captured on Video

On Wednesday, May 17th, Christopher Try was positively identified as the driver of the Gold SUV.  FHP reports that overnight,  Try was stopped by Pasco Deputies at 2905 US-19 in Holiday at which point he was detained for FHP Troopers.

He was subsequently arrested by Troopers and transported to the Pasco County Jail and charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash with injury.  He is current being held on $10,500 bail.

Update: May 17 – 7:45 p.m.

On the afternoon of May 17, 2017, workers from the Pasco County Mosquito Control located what they believed was the suspect vehicle involved in the May 15th hit and run traffic crash in a heavily wooded area near 4639 US Hwy 19, along a private drive behind a Hyundai dealership.

The workers then contacted the Florida Highway Patrol who located and recovered the vehicle which will be processed for forensic evidence. Troopers continue to investigate the incident with the intent of apprehending the suspect driver, as well as those involved in aiding the suspect driver or obstructing the investigation.

Update from FHP: May 17, 2017 – Noon

Troopers continue to investigate the crash along with searching for the 1998 Gold Ford Expedition.

The vehicle was reported stolen by the registered owner, Samantha Henry of New Port Richey.

Troopers say that investigative leads have identified two persons of interest.  They are Christopher Try and Kevin Wilson.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are searching for the driver of a 1998 Ford SUV that was involved in a hit-and-run crash in the area of 3922 Moog Road in Holiday.

The crash occurred on Monday, May 15, 2017 at approximately 3:55 p.m.

The Ford was traveling southbound on Windham Drive approaching Moog Road.

The driver failed to stop for a posted stop sign, turned left onto Moog Road and lost control traveling onto the shoulder of the roadway. The male driver overcorrected back across the roadway then onto the private property of 3922 Moog Road, collided with a mailbox, and then collided with a unoccupied 1999 Chevy Pickup truck.  The impact caused the Chevy to rotate and collide with the home.

The Ford then continued along the shoulder and collided a 14 year-old male bicyclist who was traveling southbound on the sidewalk nearby.

The driver then continued and collided with another mailbox located at 3928 Moog Road.

Debris from this impact collided with a 12 year-old bicyclist.

Following these collisions, the driver of the Ford then fled the scene of the crash in the Ford SUV.  It is being described as a Gold Ford Expedition with Florida tag “GYCT99”.  The driver is described as a white male with light brown or blonde hair, 20-30 years of age.

Neither of the two boy suffered serious injuries.  The 14 year-old boy was transported to Florida Hospital North Pinellas for an evaluation.
