Fire at a tire and auto shop in Lealman
Wednesday, January 29, 2014
Firefighters battled a fire this morning at 5390 66th Street in Lealman. The call for service came in about 10:20 this morning and arriving units found smoke and flames showing above the building.
It took crews about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control and involved petroleum based products which were stored in the rear of the structure. Fire crews used foam to help control the fire. Some of the petroleum products may have found their way in the the storm drain.
One employee was being medically evaluated due to exposure to the smoke and fire.
The fire is under investigation but appears to have started from a cigarette discarded by an employee.
