Firefighters Battle Structure Fire at Home in Clearwater

As of 10:15 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2017, firefighters have extinguished a fire at 1353 Union Street in Clearwater.

Crews were dispatched after receiving reports of a structure fire in a single story residential structure at 1353 Union Street in Clearwater at about 9:42 PM on Sunday evening.

Smoke and flames were visible when the first units received on-scene.  Additional units were dispatched to assist with the fire.

The fire was brought under control after about 30 minutes.

Two dogs were removed from the home by firefighters but were unable to be revived.

One woman is currently being transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.  The elderly woman appears to have played a role in the initiation of the fire.
