Firefighters battle early morning fire in St. Petersburg

On Monday, January 8, 2024, at approximately 3:25 a.m., St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to a reported fire at 7981 2nd Ave S.

Upon arrival, units observed heavy fire at the rear of the house and smoke from the eaves.

Two adult occupants detected smoke, evacuated safely and called 911. No injuries occurred during the incident.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, preventing its spread to nearby homes. The situation is now under control.

The Fire Investigator collected data at the scene and is currently investigating the cause, which remains undetermined.
