Firefighters battle overnight structure fire in Largo

Firefighters from several agencies responded to a reported structure fire in Largo at approximately 11:43 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

Arriving units reported heavy smoke and flames from the two-story home at 1710 20th SW.

The call was upgraded to a two-alarm response due to the heavy fire conditions. The fire involved several other structures and vehicles on the property. Firefighters retreated from the structure multiple times due to safety issues with the roof’s structural integrity and the intensity of the fire.

Crews successfully extinguished the fire, but hot spots remained for several hours. Two occupants at home were evacuated, medically evaluated, and treated. One of the occupants was transported to a local hospital.
