Firefighters contain 2-3 acre fire in Brooker Creek Preserve; trails closed to the public

Crews from East Lake Fire, Palm Harbor Fire, and Florida Forest Service responded to a 2-3 acre fire in the Brooker Creek Preserve at the end of Ranch Road just prior to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

The fire is contained, and Florida Forest Service will monitor the area in the morning. Residents in the surrounding areas will continue to smell smoke which could linger throughout the night.

Authorities say to not be alarmed by the smoke smell but to call 911 if you see fire.

Due to Florida Forest Service containment efforts for a wildfire, the Brooker Creek Preserve trails are closed to the public and may remain closed on Thursday.
