Firefighters discover body in burnt pickup truck after extinguishing the fire in Tarpon Springs

Firefighters from Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue were dispatched to reports of a vehicle fire at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021. The incident was located in the area of Pampas Street and High Street.

Flames from the fully involved vehicle began to involve utility lines in the area. When firefighters extinguished the fire, a human body was located inside.

Tarpon Springs Police Department Detectives along with the State Fire Marshal’s office are currently investigating the incident.

According to Sargent Ed Miller, from the Tarpon Springs Police Department, the identity of the person and cause of death are unknown at this time.

Updates are expected as further information is available from investigators.
