Firefighters from multiple agencies were dispatched to a possible fire at Dixie Hollins High School at approximately 10:19 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
The school is located at 4940 62nd Street North in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.
Firefighters located a haze in the building and are working to find its source, requiring them to cut into the roof. Some smoke and heat were detected on one of the building’s roofs/attic spaces.
As of 11 p.m., the small smoldering fire was extinguished with no significant effect on the interior of the school.
An inspector was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
The official name of the school remains Dixie Hollins High School. In 2020, the Pinellas County Schools now more commonly refers to the school as Hollins High School.
