On Sunday, October 13, 2024, a fire broke out at a single-family doublewide mobile home in Oldsmar. At approximately 8:00 p.m., fire crews from Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor, East Lake, Clearwater, and Sunstar responded to the scene following reports of a structure fire with a paralyzed victim trapped inside.
Engine 53 was the first to arrive. Captain Justus and Firefighter/Paramedic Weiler entered the home, began a primary search, and successfully located the victim, bringing her outside. While the search was underway, Driver/Operator Trask pulled an attack line, charged it, and positioned it at the front door. After the victim was rescued, crews worked to suppress the fire.
Despite their efforts, the fire had spread into the ceiling and attic void space, causing significant damage to the structure.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
