A fatality crash occurred on Friday, August 18, 2023, around 9:52 a.m., when deputies responded to a report of a male pedestrian hit by a vehicle in front of 13900 49th Street North.
According to information gathered by detectives, the victim has been identified as 37-year-old Jesse Chilson of Oldsmar. Preliminary findings indicate that Chilson had allegedly committed a petit theft before fleeing eastbound, leading him onto the southbound lanes of 49th Street North. As a result, he encountered a 2018 blue Ford F150 King Rancher operated by a 76-year-old Palm Harbor man, traveling in the same direction.
Chilson ran into traffic and was subsequently struck by the Ford F150. Chilson was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the driver involved in the incident was uninjured.
Initial investigations have indicated that speed and impairment do not seem to have played a role in the accident. The investigation continues.
