LARGO — Largo Police arrested a man on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in connection with an ongoing child neglect investigation involving a premature infant. His arrest follows the earlier arrest of the child’s mother, Trinity Harbaugh, on November 13, 2025.

According to arrest affidavits from the Largo Police Department, officers took 24-year-old Nikko Alexander Villareal into custody on charges of child neglect and providing false information to law enforcement.

Detectives stated that Villareal and co-defendant Harbaugh are the subjects of a child neglect investigation involving their infant son. Police reported that neither parent sought prenatal care before the birth. Investigators noted that the child was reportedly born at home at approximately 34 weeks of gestation in a breech delivery on September 29, 2025, with no medical care provided at that time.

The affidavits indicate the child experienced a medical emergency nine days later, on October 8, 2025, and was transferred to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. The infant weighed four pounds. Detectives reported an unknown level of care during the child’s life before hospitalization.

Police stated that Villareal and Harbaugh provided false information to officers, medical personnel, and child protection investigators regarding Harbaugh’s identity, background, and medical history. According to police documents, Harbaugh lied about her name, date of birth, and phone number to conceal an active felony out-of-state warrant.

Harbaugh also allegedly misled the investigation by claiming a midwife was present for the birth, providing a false name and phone number for the individual, and picking out a photograph of a person not involved in the case to lessen her culpability. Investigators reported delays in obtaining medical information and services due to the false statements. The affidavits note that the child does not have a birth certificate, insurance, or Medicaid.

Villareal faces charges of

  • Neglect of a child without great bodily harm
  • Misdemeanor charge of giving false information to law enforcement during a felony investigation.

Harbaugh, who was arrested on November 13, 2025, is charged with:

  • Neglect of a Child (Without Great Bodily Harm)
  • Giving False Information to Law Enforcement during a Felony Investigation
  • Out of County Felony Warrant from the Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office in Idaho.

The Idaho warrant cites charges for violations of release conditions regarding grand theft, computer crime, and petit theft.
