GULFPORT — A Gulfport man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a violent incident at a home on Pasadena Point Boulevard and a subsequent attempt to flee from responding officers on November 14, 2025, according to arrest affidavits.
Gulfport Police were dispatched to 6312 Pasadena Point Boulevard around 8:58 p.m. in response to a reported battery in progress. Officers found that 43-year-old Jorge Luis Polo was involved in a physical confrontation with his stepfather inside the residence. According to a court document, the incident began after Polo confronted his stepfather, who had told him he needed to leave the residence.
According to investigators, the victim had just stood up from a recliner when Polo pushed him to the ground, causing him to fall onto a glass table, which shattered on impact. The victim reported that Polo picked up a shard of glass and stabbed him in the back. He also stated that Polo first attempted to gouge his eyes with his hands and then with the glass shard. The victim managed to run outside, but Polo reportedly chased after him. During the incident, Polo allegedly told the victim, “Today you lose everything,” and later made a statement that officers interpreted as a threat to kill the victim or both of them. This statement was something like, “Either you die, or we both do.”
Polo’s mother attempted to intervene. The affidavit states that she was pushed to the floor, striking her head on a couch and suffering cuts to her legs from broken glass. She is 67 years old.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers reported that Polo fled on foot before being stopped by two officers. When confronted, he changed direction and continued running until he was taken into custody. Affidavits state that during the arrest, Polo kicked an officer several times in the chest and once in the face while officers attempted to place him in the back of a patrol vehicle.
Both victims reported injuries, and medical treatment was provided.
Polo was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on November 14.
Polo is charged with:
• Attempted Felony Murder
• Battery on a Person 65 or Older
• Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer
• Resisting an Officer Without Violence
