Tampa – A high-speed pursuit on the Gandy Bridge early Sunday morning ended in a crash and vehicle fire after a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to stop a speeding vehicle.
According to FHP, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, when a Trooper observed a Toyota Supra traveling 93 miles per hour in a posted 55 MPH zone. The Trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled eastbound on the bridge, reaching speeds over 100 MPH.

At the east end of the bridge, the Trooper executed a PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to rotate onto the shoulder. The Supra then struck a light pole and caught fire.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Ramnarine of Tampa, was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and eluding at high speed. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A 32-year-old male passenger from Tampa also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for medical care.
