Hillsborough County Fire Rescue working two-alarm apartment fire

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue working two-alarm apartment fire. The fire was located at 108 Clocktower Drive in Brandon.

The dispatch center began receiving multiple 911 calls at 2:47 PM, reporting that the roof of an apartment complex was on fire.

The first unit arrived on the scene within three minutes and reported a working fire. They were met with fire tearing through the roof of the entire two-story building.

A second alarm was immediately called, and an aggressive fire attack was initiated. Firefighters swiftly transitioned to an aerial operation and controlled the blaze within 45 minutes of their arrival.

Firefighters searched all of the apartments and saved a dog and cat from separate units. Both pets have been returned to their owners.

HCFR had 18 units on the scene with approximately 50 personnel, some have since been released. No civilians were injured, but two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, and no transport was needed.

The blaze affected 16 apartment units, which are now deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the affected families.

The Fire Investigations Unit is on the scene and has begun working to determine the fire’s origin.
