Hudson Man Killed After SUV Enters Into The Path of His Motorcycle in Pasco County

Derek Fingerle, age 30 of Hudson, was killed in a motorcycle crash that occurred at approximately 8:21 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) say that 67 year-old Michael Thienes of Hudson was traveling eastbound in the driveway of 15941 US-19 approaching US-19, north of Denton Avenue in a 2011 GMC Arcadia.

Fingerle was traveling southbound on US-19 in the center lane as the Arcadia exited onto US-19, traveled across the roadway and into his path.

As a result, the front of 2003 Yamaha motorcycle collided with left side of the Arcadia.

Fingerle, while wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle which resulted in his death at the scene.

Thienes was transported to Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point with serious injuries.

Troopers say that alcohol did not appear to play a role in the crash and charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The crash closed multiple lanes of US-19 for approximately four hours.
