HOLIDAY, FL – A crash on U.S. Highway 19 early Saturday morning left an infant dead and led to the arrest of a Clearwater man for impaired driving.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at approximately 1:36 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, just north of Flora Avenue.
Troopers say a 32-year-old Clearwater man was driving a Chevy Silverado southbound on U.S. 19 when he failed to slow for traffic and struck the rear of an Audi sedan driven by a 27-year-old man from Gibsonton.
An eight-month-old boy, the son of the Audi’s driver, was seated in the rear of the vehicle in a car seat. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The Silverado driver, identified as Antonio Miguel Bravo, showed signs of impairment and registered a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.089, according to FHP. He was arrested at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
