This morning, a two-vehicle collision occurred near the junction of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and 58th Avenue North, resulting in the passing of a 65-year-old male from St. Petersburg.
Around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, the St. Petersburg man was operating a burgundy Toyota Sienna van, heading northbound on Dr. MLK Jr. Street North.
For reasons yet unknown, the van veered across the center line and collided with an oncoming white Mercedes GLE43 Coupe when approaching 58th Avenue North.
Tragically, the driver of the Toyota died at the scene, while the driver of the Mercedes, a 53-year-old St. Petersburg woman, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The investigation remains open and active.
