Investigation underway after death of a young child pulled from swimming pool in Clearwater

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel were promptly dispatched to a distressing incident on North Highland Avenue. At 6:14 p.m., they received a report regarding an unresponsive child discovered in a pool within the 200 block.

The child, 22 month-old Ezra Ryan Lynch, was immediately transported to Morton Plant Hospital where he later died.

The preliminary investigation shows the death to be accidental.

This distressing event serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of water safety, particularly when it comes to young children. Parents, guardians, and caretakers are encouraged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent such accidents. By implementing appropriate safety measures, including constant supervision and proper pool barriers, we can help mitigate the risk of similar incidents in the future and protect our children from harm.
