Lane Change Dispute Escalates to Shooting on Tampa Road in Oldsmar

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, at approximately 2:59 p.m., an altercation on Tampa Road led to a shooting incident, leaving one individual injured.

The incident occurred as the victim was traveling eastbound on Tampa Road. While attempting to change lanes, the victim did not notice the vehicle of 27-year-old Mason Rothschild. According to deputies, Rothschild then pulled up to the left side of the victim’s vehicle, and an exchange of words ensued. To end the confrontation, the victim reportedly rolled up his window.

Using a Taurus Ultra Light .38 Special revolver, Rothschild fired at the victim. The gunshot shattered the victim’s window and struck him in the right bicep, causing bodily harm. He was transported to a local trauma center for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
