Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested 43-year-old Adela Allen and 44-year-old Kyle Allen after a 17-month-old child died from an Oxycodone overdose.
The investigation began on March 9th, 2023, when deputies responded to a residence in the 13300 block of Helm Street in Largo for a deceased child.
According to detectives, the child was found unresponsive in her pack and play and was pronounced deceased on scene. During the investigation, numerous controlled substances including Oxycodone, and Xanax, were located inside of the bedroom.
During initial interviews, Adela provided inconsistent statements, and Kyle informed detectives he was away from the residence at work when the child died.
Through the investigation, detectives learned the child’s cause of death was Oxycodone Toxicity and that none of the household members had a prescription for Oxycodone.
On June 7, 2024, detectives re-interviewed Kyle and Adela. Kyle admitted to selling narcotics provided to him by Adela. Kyle denied knowing any of the narcotics were in the residence at the time of the child’s death.
Adela continued to provide inconsistent statements to detectives and said she did not know how the child would have died from Oxycodone.
Adela was arrested and charged with Neglect of a Child (Great Bodily Harm), Possession of Hydromorphone, Possession of Morphine, Possession of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, Possession of Alprazolam, Possession of Diazepam, Possession of Oxycodone, Possession of Methadone, and Possession of Clonazepam.
Kyle was arrested for Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device and Conspiracy.
Adela and Kyle were transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.
The investigation continues.
