LARGO A Largo man was arrested early April 12, 2026, after deputies say he fired multiple rounds at an occupied vehicle following an argument with an Uber driver.

According to a Pinellas County arrest affidavit, 41-year-old David Stuart Stinson is charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and discharging a firearm in public.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:23 a.m. near the intersection of Belleair Road and Robin Hood Lane. Investigators say Stinson had been at his sister’s home in Oldsmar and used an Uber for a ride back to his residence in Largo.

During the trip, deputies say Stinson and the driver began arguing about politics and religion. The argument escalated after Stinson learned the driver was an immigrant and told him to “go back to his country,” according to the affidavit.

The driver pulled over and asked Stinson to exit the vehicle. After the driver returned to his car and began driving away, Stinson allegedly fired three rounds from a Glock 19 9mm handgun at the vehicle. Investigators say the bullets struck the rear of the vehicle and the interior passenger seat.

The driver was not injured but reported fearing for his life.

Deputies later spoke with Stinson, who initially invoked his Miranda rights before later agreeing to speak. According to the report, he admitted to arguing with the driver but denied possessing or firing a firearm and stated he did not recall having one.

Stinson was arrested at approximately 5:20 a.m. and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Bond was listed as no bond on the felony charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
