Largo Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, and Domestic Battery

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Largo Police Officers responded to a domestic battery call at the Camper’s Cove RV Park at 12928 Seminole Blvd. The officers encountered the 66-year-old victim, who reported that his son, 33-year-old Adam Dearth, had hit him and dragged him back into their mobile home. According to arrest records, Dearth forcibly held this father down on the bed against his will, injuring his forearms and biceps.

Upon attempting to make contact with Dearth, officers were met with aggression as he brandished a machete and raised it above his head before retreating into the residence. Officers could hear Dearth barricading himself inside and attempting to fill the home with propane gas. The officers quickly intervened and shut off the gas line to prevent further danger.

The situation escalated, prompting the response of the Largo Police SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Tactical Reconnaissance Unit. Despite efforts from crisis negotiators, Dearth refused to exit the residence. After a prolonged standoff, the SWAT Team successfully utilized their resources, leading to Dearth’s surrender without any injuries.

Adam Dearth has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (2 counts)
  • False Imprisonment (1 count)
  • Domestic Battery 65 years or older (1 count)

Dearth was in the custody of the Florida Department of Corrections from September 13, 2023 until January 23, 2024, for the following offenses. He has had many other arrests that previously occurred in Pinellas County.

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Controlled substances/other
