Largo Police arrested 34-year-old Cody Joseph March in connection with a fire that occurred at his residence located at 2494 Golden Pasture Circle.
According to the arrest affidavit, officers and Largo Fire Rescue crews responded at approximately 8:07 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025, to a reported structure fire at the multi-residential townhome. Fire personnel located March inside the residence. The front door was locked and blocked by a table, and the bedroom where he was found was locked and blocked by a mattress.
Investigators reported a visible pour pattern of an ignitable liquid in the upstairs loft area and a strong gasoline odor. An ignitable-liquid-detection K9 alerted to multiple locations in the loft.
March stated he attempted to kill himself using a chainsaw and then set a fire using gasoline with the intent to burn himself and the residence. He reportedly has a history of mental health issues. The connected structure also adjoins two other properties within the same townhome building.
March was transported to a local trauma center and charged with first-degree arson.
He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
