On February 28, 2019, Largo Police officers responded to 3150 South Pines Drive, to assist Largo Fire Rescue with an unresponsive female child.
The seven week old infant, Gianna Suffoletto, was not conscious or breathing.
She was immediately transported to Morton Plant Hospital and then to St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa.
During the examination of the infant, it was learned she suffered blunt force trauma to the head, torso, and legs.
Gianna died as a result of her injuries on March 5, 2019. Autopsy results confirmed the infant was the victim of aggravated child abuse and her death was classified as a homicide.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office and Largo detectives have thoroughly investigated this case and determined that the injuries were inflicted by her biological father, who was the only person with her at the time.
Detective Lance Moore arrested 28 year-old Anthony Allen Suffoletto, for First Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.
