Verlon McDonald, age 51 of Largo, was killed in a crash at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-275 at Lois Avenue.
According to investigators from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the motorcycle was traveling southbound on I-275 when, for an unknown reason, McDonald lost control of the motorcycle.
The 2007 Suzuki motorcycle traveled to the left shoulder of the roadway and collided with the guardrail. McDonald was ejected from the motorcycle and propelled off the overpass onto Lois Avenue below.
McDonald, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene of the crash.
Troopers do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash and the investigation continues.
