LARGO — As of Friday, December 19, 2025, the Largo Police Department continues to treat the case involving missing person Petro Kuqo as an active and open investigation. Police stated they are transitioning efforts away from maintaining resources directly on scene.

According to the department, investigators are confident that based on the work completed so far, if Kuqo were in the immediate area, he would have been located.

Kuqo was reported missing on December 12, 2025. Since that time, the Largo Police Department has conducted multiple organized and coordinated search efforts. These have included on-the-ground grid searches, deployments of bloodhounds and cadaver dogs, and a review of surveillance footage from businesses, private residences, PSTA, and school buses. Officers have also followed up on all tips received.

Additional efforts included marine and aerial searches, with the use of drones and helicopters. The department partnered with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to use specialized units and expand available resources.
