On October 17, 2024, at approximately 8:38 a.m., the Largo Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash at the intersection of Clearwater Largo Road and 8th Avenue NW.
The incident involved a 2013 red Chrysler 300, which was traveling east on 8th Avenue NW, attempting to head south on Clearwater Largo Road.
The vehicle struck a Largo Police Department School Crossing Guard, who was in the process of assisting an adult civilian across the intersection.
The School Crossing Guard sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chrysler remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and was issued a citation.
