Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to an incident involving a lightning strike on a woman at approximately 7:45 p.m., on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
The call was received from the 1300 block of Gulf Boulevard on Sand Key. Tragically, the victim, identified as a 73-year-old woman, was discovered deceased on a Bayside Gardens IV complex sidewalk. On Thursday, Clearwater Police identified her as 73-year-old Kathleen M. Carrick.

Positioned between the parking zone and a condominium building, the woman’s body was found by a gentleman subsequent to a bout of storms passing through the vicinity.
There were no individuals present to witness the incident. The investigative efforts are currently ongoing.
