Detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department have identified a man armed with a knife who attacked and robbed a 65-year-old woman on 17th Avenue Southeast and Bay Street Southeast on Monday afternoon.
It happened shortly after 2 p.m., Jan. 27, while the victim, a 65-year-old woman, was walking near the intersection of 17th Ave. SE and Bay Street.
Surveillance video shows the suspect passed her, then turned around and approached her. Within seconds, the man grabbed her, punched her in the stomach, and cut her arm. He then placed her ring finger in his mouth to forcibly remove the rings from her finger.
Timothy Gipson Jr, age 36, was identified as the suspect in the armed robbery. Shortly after the robbery, Gipson pawned the rings at a pawn shop in Pinellas Park, where he provided his driver’s license and thumbprint.

Gipson was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Deadly Weapon or Firearm
and Dealing in Stolen Property.
