Man on Scooter Critically Injured After Being Run Over by Semi-Trailer Truck

Franklin Thomas Dickerson died on December 21st from injuries sustained in the December 18th crash.

A 55 year-old FRANKLIN THOMAS DICKERSON of St. Petersburg was run over by a Semi-Trailer Truck Friday evening. The crash occurred at about 9:21 PM in the eastbound lanes of Gandy Blvd east of San Martin Blvd.
A tractor trailer hauling gasoline, driven by 48 year-old James Dixon of Tampa, was traveling in the same direction as the scooter, a 2013 Taoi. FHP reports that the scooter had a non-functioning tail light. Unable to see the motor scooter, the tractor trailer overtook and collided with it.
The man was rushed to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with very critical injuries and next of kin notification is in process. The report from FHP indicates that no helmet was being worn and alcohol impairment was not a factor in the crash.
The investigation continues.
