Man dies by suicide in the parking lot of Morton Plant Hospital

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, officers from the Clearwater Police Department responded to an incident at Morton Plant Hospital located at 300 Pinellas Street.

In the incident, an adult male has tragically passed away due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident took place outside on the west side of the hospital premises, and it is important to note that the deceased individual was not a patient at the hospital.

The department wants to assure the public that the hospital continues to function normally, and there is no danger to anyone’s safety.

Thankfully, no other individuals were physically harmed in this incident.
