Man Facing Two Counts Of Attempted Murder For Running Over Motorcyclists In Pasco County

A 31 year-old Land O’ Lakes man has been arrested and is now facing two counts of attempted murder for his role in a Pasco County hit-and-run crash.
The crash occurred on Monday, May 30, 2016 on US 41 and County Line Road in Lutz, Florida. Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash that occurred at about 5:37 PM.
According to the arrest report, the driver of the automobile, 31 year-old Robert Paul Vance, exchanged a “few choice words” with the victim.  Vance then ran over part of the motorcycle throwing both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle to the ground.  He changed lanes from the middle lane into the motorcycle causing the car’s back right wheel to leave the ground.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were injured and were tended to by emergency medical services crews who responded to the scene. Â Neither of the injured occupants were transported to the hospital by EMS.

Vance fled the scene but was followed to an address on Lutz Lake Furn Rd by a witness of the crash. Â One witness even reported seeing Mr. Vance changing the tire on the vehicle. Â The Trooper made contact with Vance at the address on Lutz Lake Furn Rd where he agreed to open the trunk of his vehicle. Â In the trunk the trooper, “found a wheel and tire with rubber shredded.”
According to arrest report, after being read his Miranda Rights, he admitted to hitting the victim and leaving the scene.
Initial charges filed were as follows
1. Leaving the Scene of a crash with injuries
2. Aggravated Battery
3. Habitual Traffic Offender
The charges have now been upgraded to the following with a bail amount of $115,000
1. Two counts of attempted murder
2. Aggravated Battery
3. Habitual Traffic Offender
He was previously charged with driving with a license suspended/revoked in
10/15/2003, 11/6/2003, 6/20/2006, 4/13/2011, 4/30/2012, 3/3/2012, and 4/30/2012
