Motorcyclist Killed on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Police and St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle crash on Central Avenue near 79th Street. The crash involved a motorcycle at approximately 4:46 p.m. on Saturday, February, 16, 2019.

A 2013 Honda motorcycle, driven by 20 year-old Maxwell William McMahan was traveling westbound at high speeds on Central Avenue near Causeway Blvd.

Motorcyclist Killed on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg

Police say he weaved through several cars when it struck the center median curb. The motorcycle spun, flipped and struck a pole before it stopped in the westbound median lane.  McMahan, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle.

He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where was pronounced 
dead.

Due to the impact of the crash, debris was strewn all over the road, and may have been struck or driven over by other vehicles.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
