Manatee County Sheriff investigating double homicide in Bradenton


Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a double homicide in the 200 block of 55th Avenue Terrace West, Bradenton. (Arbor Terrace RV park)

At approximately 12:06 PM Friday, November 10, 2023, deputies were called to a report of a disturbance in a mobile home and a woman crying out for help. When deputies arrived, they found two victims, a male and a female deceased on the floor of the home. As the first responding deputy drove up, he saw a male subject running away. Within minutes, multiple MCSO units assisted in locating him along 14th Street West. The man, identified as 36-year-old Thomas Matejcek, was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

Sheriff Rick Wells said, “I commend the numerous deputies who converged on this area and quickly apprehended Matejcek for this senseless crime.”

The victims in the double homicide are 62-year-old Patricia Matejcek and her boyfriend 55-year-old Sean Harrison Sr.

Both resided at that address.

Detectives have charged 36-year-old Thomas Matejcek with 2 counts of second-degree murder. He is the son of Patrica Matejcek.

A motive is being investigated.
