Homicide detectives from the Clearwater Police Department charged 24 year-old Victoria Jackson with first-degree murder of her infant son.
The crime occurred May 24, 2019 at 410 N. Highland Ave.
Victoria Jackson told 911 that she had found her young son, Malachi Jackson, unresponsive in his crib. Clearwater Police And Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded, and the 10 month-old boy was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death remained undetermined as detectives continued to investigate the mother’s story. Detectives learned this week that Victoria Jackson had told a friend she had placed a pillow over the baby’s face and asphyxiated him.
She was brought to police headquarters today and questioned by homicide detectives. Detectives say that she confessed to asphyxiating him with a pillow while he was sleeping.
Victoria Jackson was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and booked on a charge of first-degree murder.
