Motocross Accident Results In Death at Sunshine Motosports
May 6, 2014
On Tuesday at approximately 7:08pm, officers and rescue personnel responded to an accident at 4300 126 Avenue North at the Sunshine Motocross of Tampa Bay. The accident was reported to be between two participants on the motocross track.
Paramedics from the Pinellas Park Fire Department rendered aid to both subjects. Unfortunately, as a result of the accident, one of the participants died. The deceased was identified as Dale J. Boorman, age 20, from Bermuda. Boorman was pronounced dead at 7:11pm.
Mr. Boorman’s father was at the track at the time of the accident and notified that his son had died from the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The second participant was identified as Matthew Gardner, age 23, from Lakeland. He did not suffer any serious injuries.
It appears at this time that Boorman was riding his motorbike north along the inside of the track.  Gardner was riding south along the outside edge of the track when he entered a jump just prior to a turn in the track. As Gardner went airborne, he entered into Boorman’s lane of travel and his motorbike struck Boorman in the head and upper body.
This case is being handled by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s office and is classified by the Pinellas Park Police Department as an accidental death.
